Procedure

Working Together: For Whom & How
-
Step 1: Intake (60 min) In our first session, we take time to get to know one another and explore the reasons that brought you to therapy. We discuss the difficulties you're facing and begin to understand how they affect your daily life. Together, we start shaping a shared understanding of what meaningful change could look like for you. By the end of this session, we’ll have a working idea of the core issues and begin outlining the direction of our work together.
-
Step 2: In the following sessions, we take a closer look at the issues identified during the intake. We explore the underlying patterns, contributing factors, and emotional themes that maintain the problems you're experiencing. This includes identifying unhelpful thoughts, behavioral responses, and emotional triggers. The goal of this phase is to develop deeper insight—understanding not only what is happening, but also why, so we can begin to make informed, lasting changes.
-
Step 3: Once we have a clear understanding of the underlying dynamics, we work together to define realistic, meaningful goals tailored to your needs. We create a plan that outlines how to achieve these goals, selecting appropriate strategies and identifying the necessary skills. We’ll also explore which skills you already possess and which ones may need to be developed further. This phase is focused on building the tools and inner resources that will help you feel more capable and confident in addressing your challenges.
-
Step 4: With a clear plan in place, you begin to apply what you've learned in your daily life. During our sessions, we reflect on your progress, celebrating successes, exploring setbacks, and fine-tuning your approach as needed. The aim is to help you become more self-reliant, motivated, and equipped to navigate future challenges on your own. As your confidence grows, we gradually begin preparing for the conclusion of therapy, ensuring that you feel ready to continue your journey independently.

My Approach
I am here to offer support to individuals navigating challenges in their everyday lives whether they are rooted in longstanding patterns or more recent difficulties. My approach is grounded in the belief that we should be purposeful and collaborative. Together, we work toward identifying a clear, realistic goal that feels meaningful to you. Change can sometimes be uncomfortable, but when approached with intention and support, it can also be empowering. I aim to guide you through that process, helping you take practical steps when needed while staying grounded in your personal values and pace.
In our sessions, I draw from a range of evidence-based methods and psychological theories, tailored to your unique needs and preferences. Rather than using a one-size-fits-all approach, I integrate techniques thoughtfully to create a space where growth feels both structured and flexible. My hope is that, by the time our work together comes to a close, you’ll feel fulfilled, motivated, and self-directed, able to continue your journey with clarity and confidence, without the need for ongoing sessions.
A question I often hear is: “Are my problems even valid, when so many people have it worse?” To that, I gently but firmly say, yes, they are. If something is affecting you, then it matters. Your experiences are valid simply because you are the one feeling them. It’s not my role to compare your pain to anyone else’s, but rather to meet you where you are and walk beside you through whatever you’re facing. Each person’s story is unique, and my role is to help you explore that story, understand it more deeply, and support you in creating meaningful change using tools that are right for you.

Evidence Based Approaches
Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)
CBT focuses on exploring how your thoughts and behaviors influence how you feel. It's often used to support people dealing with challenges like depression, anxiety, stress, or low self-esteem. The idea is simple but powerful: when you begin to shift unhelpful thinking patterns and behavioral responses, your emotional experience can start to change too. Together, we’ll use practical tools and exercises both during our sessions and in between to help build awareness, flexibility, and long-term change.
EMDR
EMDR is often used to address trauma or phobias, but it can also be helpful for a wide range of other concerns. During the session, we use specific visual or auditory stimulation to gently activate the brain’s natural processing systems. While your working memory is focused on a distressing memory or experience, the added stimulation serves as a distraction. This process can help reduce the emotional intensity of the memory, allowing it to become less overwhelming over time.
Schema Therapy
Schema Therapy is designed to help people break long-standing patterns in how they think, feel, and relate to others. It's especially effective for issues that have been present for a long time, such as depression, anxiety, or personality-related difficulties. Schema Therapy places a strong focus on past experiences, particularly unmet emotional needs, and how these early patterns continue to affect your life today. By understanding the roots of these patterns, you can begin to respond in more helpful, fulfilling ways and build healthier relationships with yourself and others.
